“Exceptional” .: @JeffaCubed + NokiaN8

Second in a series of Music + Story + Video (MSV) productions that I’ve made on a NokiaN8 smart-device. As with the previous MSV “Minor Voltage“, all images were taken + edited exclusively by me on a NokiaN8 device. Again, this NokiaN8 version of “Exceptional” was audio-recorded (x1 pass audio-take .: no filters/post-processing) + image-edited + video-mixed exclusively on the creative + powerful “prosumer grade” NokiaN8 smart-device. I stitched the final MSV together in the better part of an hour (minus previous audio-recording for the .wav sound file…). The original @JeffaCubed song “Exceptional” is a melodic piece that I’ve been working on for the better part of the past ~15 years. The song originally came about through some “dropped-D” tuning (which at the time, was a completely unexpected happy-accident!) + a four note repetitive (and so I’m told, repetitive & relaxing) melody. The first set of lyrics are borrowed from one of my favourite poems by Lord Byron “There is a pleasure in the pathless woods“. The second set of lyrics, beginning with “We want you to be…” literally shot-out-of-me after listening to a wonderful song by The National called “Runaway (Live Uncut)“, recorded at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on May 15, 2010. A shout-out as well to the finely-tuned-folks at Nimbus School of Recording Arts right here in East Vancouver for their hospitality (& homemade-cookies) at their recent open-house + for allowing me to use a few of the images I took in this video.
